Remember to make sure you remove the virus before starting!

The cute trick the virus pulled was it removed two panels from the display menu that allow the user to modify their wallpaper and screen saver.

To get these panels you have to go in to the registry editor and modify two keys.  Note: If you're unfamiliar with the editor and what it does it's probably best if you let someone else more experienced do this.

 

1.  Go to your Start Menu

 

2. Click Run

 

3. Type in regedit and hit ENTER

 

4. Using the directory tree in the editor go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\

 

5. Now you should see the keys NoDispBackgroundPage and NoDispScrSavPage with values of 1.  Right click on both of them and click modify, and change the 1 to a 0.  When you are done editor screen should look like this:

 

Now just right click on your desktop and go to properties and you should be able to change your wallpaper back.
