Loveland Basin & Arapahoe Basin Tie for First to Open in North America on Oct 15th (today).  I remember doing some late-spring-riding A Basin a few years ago.  From what I remember, it has the highest resort-accessible terrain in North America.  I think it's summit is also over 13000 feet tall.  Fun times.
